This is an article from Thomas Dunker's site (available in my Links Section) and presumably written by him. Although I slightly disagree with some of the statements he made about the horns “imaging” and some others but generally it is very good...
I'm not so critical as you to open baffles for midbass, tho, in fact I think they can be made to work quite well, if one doesn't have the room for midbasshorns.
You suggest that open baffles might be more successful...

Here is a VERY interesting paper http://www.anstendig.org/Stereo.htmlSTEREO: A MISUNDERSTANDINGTHE THEORY, SOUND-SYSTEMS, AND PROBLEMS OF HEARINGThere is a common misconception that the addition of stereophonic sound-reproduction was the necessary, c...

jezzie i used this formular for throatsize:St=2PIxFSxQesXVas/ci, m very close, my horn is just 2" shorter.it would not be a big problem to make it longer, but in my small room every inch counts.on the other side, if somebody with experience tells me....

I cannot say much for others but in my case, my listen room is fixed, either good or bad, larger or small. There are only so many ways to fit all the audio stuffs into a space. Of course, if the space is not an issue, time-aligned install...

I might approach the problem a bit differently. Think "space efficiency" and "space effectiveness."In my travels, I have seen that a lot of Europeans and Asians live in very small spaces. Of course, the Japanese have their futon beds, which they can ...

The only concerns in my room are ceiling and a small fraction of
back wall. The back wall is very small – I am sure I will take care of
it. The ceiling is a bitch however. My leading idea is to use the sails
in th...

My system lives in a small room with poor acoustics. Fact of life until I get round to building the planned perfect music room which has been in design for 5 years and still is just a concept!Bass end is lumpy so I decided to try various solutions to...
Yes Rommy I agree with most of your comments above. What I found interesting in the larger installation was the time alignment and the bass implementation. I do disagree with your statement of not stopping by to see the Hornfab...

I always was “concerned” about those large high voltage triodes: 211, 845, GM70…. They kind of different… The 845 always was brutal and not elegant, 210 was elegant but not sophisticated, and the GM70 was sophisticated enough but no one build a...

Andy, is conical shape and the flange around the moth is just the rational for cheap manufacturing? When a horn acts s a transducer the flange is not a positive thing… It would be very interesting how you select horns characteristics for your microph...

Just add a pair of small Ino Audio speakers and your LTS associated setup is done. :-)http://www.faktiskt.se/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=8994&list=fullSeriously, I'd pester the very reluctant manufacturer (former LTS head hon...
Or perhaps he simply likes it to sound that way? You pursue one sonic ideal, Mr Sakuma obviously pursues a different one. The sound level - does Sakuma play louder or softer than you? My guess would be softer.
Robert, actually in case of Grand Utopia you was remarkably close mentining the ‘magic tape measure’ option. You see, they demoed Utopia in looks like a large room and they band the Utopia’s axis’s only for demonstration purposes. In this configurati...
That is very good approach in my view. The
problem is in this approach that you have to have high sensitively speakers
that you would be able to use with that test full-range Milq. The behavior of
the Full range Milq wi...

I'm also of the opinion that the bass is one of the most critical and most challenging parts of playback. Not talking about quantity, but rather the quality of bass reproduction. My approach has been to split the bass in two parts - Low and...
A mid-bass horn for my Altec 515-8G drivers operating from 100-600hz
Rony, I think your wish to have mid-bass horn with 515G is a bit faulty. A mid-bass horn for 515G shall be 50-600 Hz. Let me to explain. T...

maybe what is mentioned as being some myths is closer to what at least used to be pretty close to the actual truth?Wilson speakers are pricy, expensive, un-affordable, take your pick. So maybe some of the commentators about Wilsons never had one ...
Romy, it seems like you are basically talking values and value here. No way to know for sure ahead of time how your children will take to Music, let alone hi-fi, and also no way to be sure now how long any interest will last, or...

I had a Walker Proscenium turntable with various cartridges. About twenty years ago I converted all my vinyl to 24/96 files and have never looked back. As far as dsp processing, the Trinnov altitude does a superb job of either recreating the hall sou...

Bravo, and well done. Your room has taken a leap forward in aesthetics, losing the geeky bachelor audio lab look, and gaining warmth and social interaction. I'm envious of your regular access to live chamber music via Amy and her friends. The reso...

I have moved the speakers toward to the mid of the room along with the carpet, the image from listening position has reflects it. I do have some imaging back and generally (presentation-wise) it does has some resemblance of Sound that use to be. Howe...

Here are a number of threads at my site where the concept of “Rightsizing from extreme systems....” is pitched. I looked into the “second” systems not because I was interested in “different sound”. In fact I insist that multiple playbacks in the same...

Here is the idea that I had for the “ultimate bass” for my room. Below is the picture of Macondo one channel as it is now from my listening position. So, if I find a way to deal with the wall edge at my ceiling then I might replace the current 72” w...

We can't "choose" everything in our life, like size of our listening room! So we have to use what we have.
Anyhow I was reffering to your post aboutDPoLS in which you were showing a way to find AEZ. In that post you wrote:Most of the mid and small ...

I don't want to pull the thread way off but the thought occurred to me while reading here that audio bass never fools me into thinking it is real. Even my middling system once in a while can fool me in the midrange and treble for a few seconds or so....
